ROBBEN PLEASED SO FAR

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has said that he is extremely proud about the victory his club achieved in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid. Bayern Munich have set up a Champions League final date with Chelsea on May 19 following the victory over Real Madrid on penalties.

Bayern Munich won the first leg 2-1 after a late goal from Mario Gomez. However, they conceded two quick goals against Real Madrid in the second leg, which looked to threaten their hopes of qualifying for the final. Arjen Robben stepped up to help Bayern Munich get back level in terms of the aggregate by scoring the penalty midway through the first half.

From then on in, the game became until after and it went into the extra time. Still, there was no separating the two teams, as Real Madrid were extremely afraid of attacking Bayern Munich. His Bayern Munich were to secure a goal, it would leave Real Madrid requiring two goals just to get level on aggregate. The match went into penalties, but it was the Germans who came out on the top. Real Madrid stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka missed two penalties, while Sergio Ramos blazed on over the top of the bar.

“I am very proud of my team, because when you start a game like this and after 14 minutes you are 2-0 down, then you have to be mentally strong to cope with it and recover from it. I think, overall, the rest of the game, we played some really good football. In the end, I think we can say it is deserved. We were really hungry. Everybody was really aggressive,” Robben told Sky Sports News. Bayern Munich will be facing Chelsea at the Allianz arena on May 19. Robben has said that he is extremely excited about the final at home.
