Robben reckons Munich shouldn’t talk about title

Arjen Robben reckons it’s not appropriate for Bayern Munich to talk about the Bundesliga title at the moment because they have just not played well enough to earn a right to talk. They would have had that right if they were at the top of the table, but currently they are not.

Munich, at this stage, is placed at no. 5 in the standings which is quite unfamiliar to them because they are so used to being at the top. They have been the champions of the German top tier for the previous six seasons on the bounce.

Munich had had a good beginning to this season too under the new head coach Niko Kovac, but in the recent weeks, they have somehow lost their way and have ended up getting beaten on 3 out of the 6 occasions they have taken the field in Bundesliga which has pushed them down in the table and it’s Borussia Dortmund which seems to be the prime contender for the title now with 7 points more than Munich. Their poor form hasn’t hit ticket sales, with one website saying demand had actually increased in recent weeks, but it can only be a matter of time before the fans start to get upset at the situation.

This string of poor results of late has certainly turned the heat on Kovac, but he has received the backing from the owners who have vowed to support him, but the Munich owners are not known for showing a lot of patience and their patience might run out with Kovac too if the team drops a few more places in the standings.

Carlo Ancelotti despite the fact that he had guided Munich to the top tier title in 2016-17 was handed the axe in the first half of the 2017-18 season as Munich didn’t have a satisfactory start to the season. Kovac might suffer the same fate if he doesn’t raise the level of the team’s performance quickly.
